Excerpt from Eugene Mason Scott's Sins of the Flesh:

Since coming to the camp, I had difficulty getting rest. I was accustomed to being lulled to sleep by the noise and busyness of the city. The almost deafening quiet of the wilderness was intimidating. After lying there for hours, I decided to take a moonlight swim. The humidity outside was stifling but there was no one else around. It was the first time in a while that I was completely alone. It was typical for the councilors to always be on top of you and I don't mean that in a good way either. Privacy was something that only the righteous were apparently allowed to have.

With a loud splash, I dove in the lake. I didn't care if anybody heard me. I needed to relax and the water was soothing.

"You know you're not supposed to wander after lights out."

Startled, I turned to find Patrick standing at the end of the dock. His arms were crossed against his chest and he was dressed in a men's nightshirt.

"I'm sorry," I said. "I just couldn't sleep."

"Things are almost never easy in this life. Sleep is no different. God rewards patience. With patience and prayer, the things we desire will come."

It took everything not to roll my eyes. Everything with him was about God.

"Come on, Cameron," he said. "It's time to get out."

"How about you join me?"

"No, thank you."

I swam over to where he was standing. As I climbed out, Patrick averted his gaze. I guess the sight of my wet, masculine body was too much for him. "I didn't tell the head counselor about what happened in my office because I attributed it as a simple slip up," he said. "Such a thing cannot happen again." I scoffed at him. Was he really that naïve or just stupid?

"What is it about me that scares you so much? The fact that I'm comfortable with my sexuality or the fact that deep down you know you wanna fuck me?" A sullen look crossed his face.

"We don't use that kind of language here. Now I suggest that you go back to your cabin and pray." Smirking, I sank to my knees.

"What are you doing?!"

I shushed him and lifted the hem of his nightgown.

"Praying.”
