Professional Editing Services
As a former senior editor with Follett publishing, it was my top priority to ensure that every project assigned to me was worthy of the Follet family name. It is my pleasure to offer you the same eagle eye and attention to detail by working one-on-one with writers who are committed to the improvement and refinement of their novels, short stories, and screenplays.
Proof Reading
The proofing phase consists of overall basic scanning /correction of minor punctuation, spelling and grammatical errors in a finished manuscript. Any problem areas requiring attention beyond this scope will require moving on to the Copy Editing phase.
Copy Editing
Copy editing is the technical process of helping you improve your writing at the sentence level. This is where I will correct weak sentence structures, and condense/delete redundant word choices and sentences. Part of this process includes personal notations directly on your pages highlighting and praising areas of your manuscript that work particularly well (allowing you to recognize your successes and reinforcing the value, and strength of your work) and also asking questions as they arise and identifying possible weak spots that may require further discussion and revision.
Content Editing
In this phase, I provide you with detailed feedback addressing the bigger picture: plot, story arc, pace, tone, style, location, detail, characterization, and dialogue. In this phase, manuscripts that are are too lean or too wayward can be properly expanded or streamlined as necessary. Empty praise and encouragement are a writer's worst enemy and you will get none of that kind of nonsense from me. I believe in letting you know exactly what is working and tough as nails when it comes to pointing out where the weaknesses and flaws are while giving you the tools to overcome these areas in a positive and encouraging manner. Once I have fully identified these areas for you we will be ready to talk one on one (usually face-to-face on Skype or Zoom) and we will agree on a plan of action and a revision plan that you are happy and comfortable with so you can feel confident in your direction before heading back to the keyboard!
Proof Reading/Copy Editing Rates:
